Auer Dult 2019

The Auer Dult on Mariahilfplatz in Munich's Au district has been held three times a year since 1905: The Maidult in spring, the Jakobidult in summer and the Kirchweihdult in fall. But the history of the Dult is much older - it dates back to the late Middle Ages.

Over 700 years of Dult

The term "Dult" or "Tult" has its original meaning in a church festival where stalls with goods were set up around the church in honor of a saint. The first Dult, the Jakobidult, was held in 1310 on the Anger, today's Sankt-Jakobs-Platz. From 1791 onwards, it was held at various locations in the city.

In 1796, Elector Karl Theodor granted the village of Au the right to hold a fair twice a year. The name "Auer Dult" dates back to this time. With the incorporation of Au in 1854, the Auer Dult came to Munich. Since 1905, the Auer Dult has been a permanent fixture on Mariahilfplatz and is held three times a year. Only from 1943 to 1946 did the Dult have to be canceled. The Jakobidult 2010 was the 700th anniversary of the fun fair, which is organized by the Department of Labour and Economic Affairs of the City of Munich. With around 300 showmen and market traders each year, the three Dulten attract a total of up to 290,000 visitors.

Come to the Auer Kirchweihdult 2019

Finally Auer Dult again: The Kirchweihdult will take place on Mariahilfplatz from 19 to 27 October 2019 at the end of the Dult season. It is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm, the fairground area from 10:30 am to 7 pm. Tuesday is family day and the showmen charge less.

Clever people who are already thinking about Christmas baking will find what they are looking for at the Dult: "Emma's Springerle" is the name of the new stall in Herztropfengasse, where you can bake your own special aniseed cookies and models.

Visitors to the Dult can buy a jacquard jacket from the new "JaLana" knitwear collection made of 100 percent cotton with Ökotex certification at the stall in Münchner-Kindl-Gasse.

Locals are familiar with the extensive range of goods on offer at the Auer Dult. New Dult guests are advised to let themselves drift and see what they like. In the "Tableware" section, you will find designer pieces as well as everyday ceramics. From health products to spices, from second-hand goods to selected antiques, from silver jewelry to suspenders and much more is sold here.
Great fun for the little ones

Children and the young at heart will have a great time in the fairground area of the Dult: with gentle rides such as bumper cars, chain planes, boat swings, a Russian wheel and a carousel for the little ones.

Throwing booths invite you to test your skills and a children's carousel for round trips. Services such as a baby carriage parking area, baby changing station and benches provide a feel-good atmosphere in the (small) child-friendly fairground area.
