Every year in February, more than 1,300 exhibitors from 70 countries present new, exciting and inspiring things from the seven subject areas of travel, health & wellness, caravaning & Camping, Water Sports, Outdoor, Bike & Cruising & Ship trips on an area of more than 80,000 square meters. Themes:
- Travel (Halls A4, A5 and A6): The wide world can be so close. Whether long-distance travel, destinations in Central, Northern and Eastern Europe or holiday hotspots in Bavaria. f.re.e partner country 2020 is Italy (Hall A6, Stand 101). The popular holiday country shows travel and leisure opportunities between the Alps and Sicily - this year the special focus is on the regions of Liguria and Piedmont.
- Bicycle (Hall C6): Here the bicycle tires squeak! Professionals do their laps on the parcours, there are tips from experts on the bicycle stage and the exhibitors showed their latest models - from classics to trekking, mountain and e-bikes.
- Health & Wellness area (A5): On the massage chair, visitors dream of their own whirlpool and get to know new products for relaxation. There are also really good tips for healthy eating here.
- caravaning & Camping (Halls B4, B5 and C5): Wanderlust guaranteed - the Caravaning & Camping continues to grow at f.re.e 2020 and now fills almost three halls. Here you will find the latest camping vehicles - from luxury liners to folding trailers. House and awnings, car roof tents and camping accessories are also presented. And camping experts give tips.
- Outdoor area (Hall C5): Adventurers will find everything their heart desires here: from the ideal hiking backpack and equipment to gadgets for sport climbing, free climbing or bouldering.
- Cruises & Cruises (Hall A6): Have you always wanted to travel the world in a luxury liner? This subject area is dedicated to maritime travel of all kinds.
- Water sports (Hall B6): canoes, stand-up paddling, diving equipment - things get wet here. Especially in the lake landscape for testing, as well as in the introductory diving pool. There is also the new boating theme island.

f.re.e is celebrating its anniversary in 2020: 50 years ago it took place in Munich for the first time under the name "Auto, Bot, Caravan". Since 2009 it has been called f.re.e (leisure, travel, recreation) . The two themed islands of photography and boating are new in 2020, and the startup camp, a separate platform for young companies from the travel and leisure industry, is also celebrating its premiere.
