Opening of the ball season at the Deutsches Theater
Lederhosen, dirndls and traditional costumes are welcome to kick off the ball season at the Deutsches Theater: the Oide Wiesn Bürgerball on Friday, 24.1.2020 is all about Bavarian tradition. Schuhplattler and folk dance groups will delight visitors, while hearty music and Goaßlschnoizer will create a great atmosphere. Admission is at 7 pm.
At the Oide Wiesn Bürgerball in the Deutsches Theater, traditional costume and carnival are brought together again. In dirndls and lederhosen, guests will once again open the 2020 ball season: dress code is traditional costume.
From 8 pm to 2 am, there will be Bavarian music just like at the real Wiesn and actor Winfried Frey will guide guests through the traditional evening. Among others, Wolfgang Grünbauer and the Oktoberfest musicians, the Monaco Big Band and the Beratzhauser Blasmusik will be performing. Gigi Pfundmair sings Munich songs and couplets. Schuhplattler and Goaßl-Schnoizer also show off their Bavarian skills. The patron of this special carnival event is Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter.
The program also includes performances by the two Gau associations with dancing, Schuhplatteln and Goaßlschnalzen as well as a joint dance by the traditional costume couples from the 22 Gau associations of the Bavarian Traditional Costume Association.
Visitors can expect "a ball for all those who are involved in the Oktoberfest and for all those who love the tradition and flair of the Oktoberfest and especially the Oidn Wiesn", says Karl-Heinz Knoll, President of the Festring, which is committed to preserving Bavarian and especially Munich customs.
