Late summer adventure mile on Munich's boulevard
Car-free and fun: Leopoldstrasse and Ludwigstrasse will be transformed for the second time on September 7 (from 4 p.m.) and 8 (from 11 a.m.), 2019 into a vibrant event mile with music, entertainment and sport. The first festival in May attracted around 230,000 visitors to Streetlife and Corso Leopold.
Oh Munich, you green city! Admittedly, when you think of Munich, the green city may not be the first association. The Oktoberfest, Kaufingerstraße and crowded subways and streets are likely to take precedence. An image dominated by asphalt, hardly a trace of greenery. Yet Munich has all kinds of green spaces to offer. And what a lot of them. The English Garden, for example, is one of the largest inner-city green spaces in the world. Furthermore, the Isar flows through the city like a kind of blue-green lifeline, allowing the Flaucher to blossom and flourish. Lovingly designed parks and gardens stretch out in all directions - in short:
The meadows are there, you just have to know where.
This is why "Green City" is the motto of this year's Streetlife Festival. It is both a commitment and an appeal. A commitment to the fact that we can perceive Munich as a city worth living in with many places of tranquillity and an appeal to do just that more often. Green spaces can be found. They can be used. They can be created. So come with us on a journey through the city and learn to see it with different eyes.
Get to know Munich as a green city. As a green city!
The Streetlife Festival organized by Green City e.V. has been showing for many years how car-free space can be designed (Space Invaders), what the mobility of the future will feel like (Alternative Mobility), where you can get involved for a better world (Gerechteck, Umwelten) and offers lots of sustainable products for sale (FairWert Basar). We are particularly pleased that the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection is once again a partner of the Streetlife Festival this year and will be providing information about climate protection and climate adaptation as well as good entertainment at Odeonsplatz. Due to the renovation work at Siegestor, you will now find our Green City Island at Ge-schwister-Scholl-Platz. There you can take part in the plant exchange, try out our new bar with a view, find out about our ideas for a greener city, climate protection, our successes and our political work. Or you can simply relax and enjoy our festival!
The "Festival of Public Space" conquers Munich's boulevard with stages for music, cabaret and spontaneous craziness. From Odeonsplatz to Siegestor, the Streetlife Festival offers plenty of action and entertainment in the eight themed worlds - especially in terms of sustainability. You can also dance: live concerts on the music stages bring rhythm to the streets.
You will find lots of art, politics, games, fun and culture on the Corso Leopold from Siegestor to Schwabinger Tor. The entire Münchner Freiheit is also part of the cultural program. The Corso offers you everything your heart desires on around 20 program squares: music, dance and lots of information - over 150 initiatives and associations present themselves at stands.
