In 2018, Oberschleißheim is hosting the "Schleißheimer Advent" Christmas market for the 8th time, and for the 3rd time it will take place against the backdrop of the historic Flugwerft. The outdoor area of the Deutsches Museum is also included. There is space for around 70 exhibitors and artists. Regional artists exhibit their paintings, jewellery and other exhibits in the artists' tents. The "Schleißheim Advent" has a varied supporting programme with St. Nicholas flying in for the opening, carriage rides, a torchlight walk through the nearby Schleißheim Palace Park, a writing room for handwritten letters and the "living nativity scene". The Advent market is rounded off by a stage programme at the market and in the shipyard with regional artists and up-and-coming performers as well as various guided tours of the exhibition at the Deutsches Museum and at the airfield. The "Schleißheim Advent" Christmas market is becoming increasingly popular and is also attracting more and more visitors from the surrounding area and Munich.
