"Reicht leicht!" is the current motto
It is one of the most popular music events in Germany and attracts almost one million visitors every year. The Tollwood Festival was held for the first time in the Olympiapark in the summer of 1988. Since 1991 there has also been a winter festival, which takes place on the Theresienwiese.
As always, the Tollwood Festival is held in summer at the Olympiapark Süd. Some events take place in the numerous tents, large concerts in the music arena. Visitors can enjoy folk music and dialect in the Hacker-Pschorr tent. The Schauplatz offers theater and artistic performances, including Nouveau Cirque. In the Andechser tent there is handmade music - always free of charge. The Andechser Lounge will be a little quieter and more dignified from 10 pm. The FassBar will mainly feature local musicians.
Did you know that "Earth Overshoot Day" is already on May 2 in Germany this year? That's when life's resources are used up for the whole year. This means that we are living far beyond our means. It would "easily" be enough if we consumed less and used what we need more sensibly, ecologically and fairly. Tollwood is focusing on this approach this summer.
The motto is reflected in the entrance artwork "The Loop", designed from 200 shopping carts, in a Tiny House and in a "Temple of Consumption". Visitors can hand in toys, books and clothes in "swap lockers" on the festival site - and of course take other items back with them.
For 26 days in summer, the Tollwood Festival invites music fans, culture vultures and strollers to the Olympic Park. Against the backdrop of the colorful "Market of Ideas", fascinating theater and performance groups meet on the festival grounds, while live music from all over the world emanates from the tents.
The market with handicrafts and organic food from all continents and many places where visitors can get active themselves invite you to linger and enjoy. Over 80 percent of all events are free of charge.
